Yobe Desert Stars beat Adamawa United by two unreplied goals to gained promotion to the elite Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after a 2-0 victory over Adamawa United on Wednesday.
The Mustapha Audu-led side needed maximum points on the final day of the league season to make sure of promotion and they did just that with a first half winner in Damaturu. They will join Northern Conference winners Kwara United in the top flight next season.
Having already ensured promotion, Kwara United lost at home to FC Taraba 1-2 on the final day, a result that ensured Taraba escaped relegation.
