Governor Inuwa Yahaya constitutes committee to review state's tertiary education institutions
Gombe State Governor
Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the constitution of an 11- member committee to review the state's tertiary education institutions.
The committee has a renown academic, Professor Buba Bajoga as Chairman with the following as members:
i. Sen. Haruna Garba
ii. Prof. Rufa'i Ahmed Alkali
iii. Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu
iv. Dr. Gidado Bello kumo
v. Sen. Sa'idu Umar Kumo
vi. Prof. Istifanus Williams
Vii. Prof. Nabath Tanglang
viii. Prof. Nana Tanko
ix. Dr. Japhet Koni, while
x. Barr. Robert Wabida will serve as Member/Secretary.
The committee is mandated to cover the following institutions:
i Gombe State University of Science and Technology Kumo
ii Gombe State College of Education Billiri
ii. Gombe State Polytechnic Bajoga
iii Gombe State College of Legal and Islamic Studies Nafada, and
Gombe State School of Nursing Dukku
The committee is to work with the following terms of reference:
i. To review the level of establishment of the institutions from inception to date
ii. To assess the potentials and relevance or otherwise of the institutions to the educational development of the state
iii. To assess their viability vis- a-vis the financial status of the state, especially in view of the Local Governments' financial autonomy and the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit ( NFIU) regulations
iv. To make such other or further recommendations as the committee may deem fit under the circumstances.
The committee may conduct public hearings or seek and receive memoranda from the public where necessary. It may also co-opt any other person to assist in the discharge of its assignment.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya will inaugurate the committee on Wednesday, 24th July, 2019 by 2:PM at the Government House, Gombe.
