MY ADMINISTRATION WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH THE LEGISLATURE FOR SMOOTH IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICIES AND PROJECTS-GOV INUWA YAHAYA
Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has said that his administration will work closely with the legislature in identifying and implementing priority projects in view of the state's lean resources and debt burden.
The Governor was speaking when he played host to members of the state House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim Kurba.
He noted that a cordial relationship between the Executive and the Legislature, in particular and among the three arms in general, is imperative in order to stimulate smooth implementation of policies and programmes that will benefit the citizenry.
"Good governance is only achieved if the three arms of government are in the same direction regardless of party or religious affiliations, and with the kind of support we have from both the legislature and Judiciary so far, I am optimistic Gombe state government has a sense of direction despite the obvious challenges", Governor Yahaya said.
While thanking the state lawmakers for supporting his policies and programmes, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said though he has not visited the state Assembly yet , he is aware of the rots and poor condition of the complex which is in dire need of urgent intervention.
He assured the lawmakers of his readiness to provide all their required operational facilities and materials that will enhance their legislative duties even before the state cabinet is set up.
Earlier in his remark, the Speaker of state House of Assembly, Hon.Abubakar Sadiq Kurba said the legislators were in the government house to identify with the policies and programmes of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and to show their solidarity.
"We are here to show our total support and solidarity with this administration and to appreciate His Excellency for the giant strides so far. We thank you for initiating policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lots of the citizenry, and we assure you of our support and cooperation".
" We are aware of what you met on ground in terms of debt burden, contractual liabilities, system collapse and institutional delay but we are confident that with your kind of person on the saddle, we will overcome the challenges and reposition the state".
"We also want to intimate the governor on the infrastructural decay in the house which if not checked will hamper smooth conduct of our constitutional responsibilities".
