Gov Inuwa Yahaya - Gombe To Pilot National Livestock Transformation Scheme



Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development,  Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono have inspected the Wawa-Zange Grazing Reserve in Dukku Local Government Area preparatory to the commencement of implementation of the national livestock transformation plan of the federal government.

During  the inspection visit, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized his administration's resolve to lead the way in actualizing the national livestock transformation plan and bringing succour to pastoralists,  nomads and farmers.

He said his administration will leave no stone unturned to better the living conditions of the pastoralists, through the provision of basic amenities like hospitals,  schools, earth dams and other services for both humans and livestock.

He commended the federal Government's initiative and the minister's disposition towars ensuring that Gombe state benefits from the scheme and other programmes and policies aimed at improving productivity, creating wealth and guaranteeing food security.

He said  "with 23 grazing reserves across  the state covering over 38,000 hectares of land, Gombe state is in a vantage position to lead the way in the national livestock transformation plan and we will surely strengthen our  partnership with the federal government and other relevant local and International organisations to reap maximum benefits from these natural resources".

On his part, the  Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji  Muhammad Sabo Nanono reiterated his promise to make Gombe state a model in livestock production through the establishment of a grazing reserve equipped with a school, veterinary clinic and other facilities that will enhance the value chain.

He appreciated the commitment of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in prioritising agriculture and other critical sectors, assuring that more programmes and projects will be coming to the state to boost its economy.

There were goodwill messages by the Emir of Dukku, Alhaji Haruna Abdulkadir Rashid, representatives of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association,  Farmers' Association and local communities who all declared their support  for the programme.
