The multimillion naira Gombe state Press Center will be put to use soon, for the benefit journalists in the state and visiting journalists.
Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan Kwami, State Commissioner for Information made the declaration when he paid visit to the center located at Abubakar Habu Hashidu Estate.
The commissioner said the state government under the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya would not relent in providing condusive atmosphere to journalists as the fourth realm of the estate to practice their legimate profession.
While assuring the contractor handling the project settling all outstanding balance, the information boss said government will not accept substandard work.
" I can assure you we're not going to take over substandard edifice, the furniture and what they have provided are substandard and we're going to accept them".
" I understand the project had taken quite a long time; we're going to take necessary to see the place is okay".
Responding the contractor, Alhaji Namanu Kwamanda assured to abide by contract's specification and appealed for quick response from the government in regard to the outstanding payment.
Commenting, the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Saidu Bappah Malala applauded the commissioner of Information for on the spot assessment of the Press Center and for working the clock in ensuring taking over the edifice.
The number one Journalist in Gombe state explained that looking at the interest the state government has in the Media , the members of the the pen profession are optimistic that the press center will verify soon will be commissioned.
